Diverter valve

A diverter valve directs water from a pump towards different groups of jets. On a spa equipped with one, turning the control can shift more flow to one seating area and less to another. It changes where the pump’s output goes. An air control has a different job: it adjusts the air mixed into the water at the jets.

The number of diverters, the jet groups they serve and the permitted adjustment procedure vary by spa. Use your model’s instructions and do not force a stiff control. When comparing tubs, ask for a demonstration of how the seats share water flow; the highest jet count will not explain that arrangement. Legacy Spas’ hot tub buying guide gives you other practical questions to bring to a model comparison.
